Willkommen!I am an Associate Professor of German and German Program Coordinator at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Prior to my appointment at USNA, I earned a PhD in German Applied Linguistics and Language Science from the Pennsylvania State University. I am currently teaching all levels of German language as well as culture courses. My passion for teaching is reflected in my research, which addresses the gap between L2 research findings and foreign language teaching practice and serves the goal to facilitate instructed SLA for both learners and instructors. Before coming to the US to pursue a PhD, I earned a teaching certification for Secondary Education (1. Staatsexamen; MA of Education) from the Philipps-Universität in Marburg (Germany) qualifying me to teach German, ESL and French. I have since used my teaching experience gained on the secondary and post-secondary level both in Germany and the US to research ways of facilitating instructed second language learning.
On this homepage, you can learn more about my role at USNA, my teaching, my research, and my outreach efforts to engage students and the community in language learning. |
